We seek students with strong academic records, especially those with previous research experience.
ManyPhD students conducting predoctoral research at The Jackson Laboratory are affiliated with academic programs of the University of Maine, Orono (UMaine). Arrangements are also possible for PhD students from other institutions who wish to conduct research at The Jackson Laboratory.

Applying
Admissions to specific academic Ph.D. programs arehandled at the individual institutions. More information about the UMaine programs and application procedures may be found at:

Deadlines
Although precise deadlines vary from year to year among individual institutions, you should anticipate that applications are due by mid January and prioritized by mid February, with top candidates being invited for on-site interviews in late February or early March. Offers of admission are generally made by mid March.
