Highseas

Highseas water viewHighseas is a forty room mansion tucked on the edge of Acadia National Park. The house was donated to the Lab by the Morris Family Estate and has been home to summer students since 1951. Highseas has a curious history, hides a secret staircase, and overlooks breathtaking land- and seascapes.

Students are typically assigned one to three roommates. No more than six people share a bathroom. Bed linens, housekeeping services, and basic bedroom furniture are provided.

House amenities include a game room, library, conference room, and music room. Washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment are provided.

Health care is available through the local hospital and local physician services.

Though van transportation is provided, Highseas is walking or biking distance from the lab, the park, and the town of Bar Harbor. Nearby recreational activities include hiking, biking, shopping, and sampling the offerings of local restaurants.

On weekends, longer excursions are generally arranged; students have the opportunity to white water raft, camp, mountain climb, and explore other towns on the island.
