Cathleen (Cat) Lutz, Ph.D., M.B.A.

Vice President, Rare Disease Translational Center

Directs the RDTC, empowering rare disease solutions through partnership, innovation, and scaled preclinical pipelines to deliver targeted therapies from lab to clinic swiftly and effectively.

As the Vice President of the RDTC, Cat works with patient-based foundations, researchers, and industry partners to engineer precision cellular and mouse models to accelerate the discovery and implementation of genetic therapeutics in the rare disease space. With over 30 years of experience, Cat currently oversees a diverse portfolio of rare disease programs in the RDTC involving complex model generation and characterization as well as the development of gene-based therapeutics including gene editing, gene replacement, and antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs). Driven to transform the therapeutic landscape for those affected by rare disease, Cat was honored with a 2021 Rare Impact Award by the National Organization for Rare Disorders.

Cat received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Maine, Orono followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC and an MBA from Husson University.
